Hamsters, Piranhas, and Werewolves. Oh My!

There has been a new popular game that has been played. There does not seem to be any official title for it but is simply referred to as 'the story telling game'. In case some of you have not played this game, the only things you need are paper, pens, and lots of creative minds (and of course a sense of humour). Everyone writes a title on their page and passes it to the right. You now have the title of someone elses story and must write the first couple sentences or paragraph, and then you fold over the previous section and then pass it again. You continue this until the page is filled up and then hand the page back to the person who wrote the title. Finally you read the stories and usually laugh until your sides hurt. So far I have played this game at several nights in a row and at least once a week for several weeks. It has been quite fun especially as we add each other into the stories and then refer back to previously written stories. More often then not the stories make no sense what so ever but that is what makes them so much fun! Below you will find a couple stories (involving yours truly) that we have written and that you will hopefully enjoy.

Also by reading some of the stories you will understand why I so named the posting which involves me turning into a hamster, almost marring a piranha, among other things.

The werewolf on the other hand comes from a comment from one of the guys made. This guy seems to pretty firmly belief that Saskatchewan (where I was born and grew up) does not really exist, it is a mythical place and so are people who come from there. Which I am totally okay with...I always wanted to be mythical =D. Then one night somehow Twilight got mentioned during our story game from which this friend made the remark "The only thing I learned from Twilight is that Natives are werewolves." I remarked at this point that I was part native and so apparently I am a werewolf....what exactly are they and what do they do anyways?...not to mention on of my other guy friends must now be my sworn enemy because apparently he is a vampire (actually a vampire ninja pirate)... Oh well I truly am a mythical creature now...gosh University/College live can be so random, crazy and weird yet so very fun....as you laugh and enjoy your time with your friends for sometimes you just need to put the books down for a while (if you actually pick them up =P) and just relax and have a good time. I know I am very thankful that God has brought me...they all vary so much and some of them are exact opposites of each other yet we grow closer. I have a wonderful group of friends.

So have your friends made you laugh recently? How?

One of the Fav's: (the numbers mean a change in author)

1. Ashley and her Many Different Hats
2. Ashley had a great many hats. She had more hats than she had enemies. She had hats for picnics, hats for swimming, she even had hats for eating pancakes. But one fateful day she received a hat from someone who disliked her very much. She didn't know this, however, and so she put it on her head. What happened next was dreadful.
3. (sidenote: this is what I wrote and I didn't realize it was talking about me!) The hat caused her to turn into a hamster! What was she to do?! How was she to go on? Fortunately Katie saw the little hamster with hears in her eyes "Why are you crying little hamster" she said picking it up.
4."I'm crying because you don`t talk to me anymore," said the hamster. " I thing you are becoming emotionally attcached to someels, Katie, and I don't want to you to leave me!" The distraught hamster....
5. wept for 2 hourse and went through 3 boses of tissue before katie could speak a word "I'm not going leave you," Katie said softly. "I just think it would be good not to see so much of each other." (sidenote2: the discourse between the hamster and Katie is occasionally brought up in other stories for other character or just randomly as a joke or a response to a question)
6. But before another word could be spoken, an enormous wooden badger appeared on the horizon. Katie stared blankly for several minutes then....a dim fluorescent bulb when on, but quickly turned off again, Katie continued to stare blankly at the wooden badger.
7. "I don't get it," she said. "How is a wooden badger supposed to answer all my problems?" "It's a magica badger." Replied the elf. "That makes it all clear," she replied sarcastically. But just then she relied something and it did become clear. The badgers eyes were moving. Katie round housed kicked the badge in the stomach, which neatly in half and out emerged a frog. "Wonderful!" Katie cried "I love frogs!" she kissed him on the head and he turned into a prince. And they lived happily ever after.

1.When the Lights Went Out
2.On a dark stormy night, the branches on the trees were creaking the owls were hooting and the wolves were howling.
3. (this is my contribution to the story)All this noise scared Terrance a little boyscout who was camping in the woods. Suddenly he heard a sound in the bushes. Stepping out of his tent he shone his flashlight and saw...
4.the Ghost of Christmas Past. It beckoned to Terrance to follow, and so led Terrance deeper and deeper into the woods where it grew darker and darker.
5. Finally the destination was reached. It was the lair of the antelope who was related to the moose who failed to defeat the lion kind, and there before Terrence was the antelope`s cousin, the gazelle, and Ashley.
6. Ashley was by far the most beautiful and the most intimidating. But, alas Ashley was no match for Terrence's charming smile. She swooned in an instant. Fortunately for her the antelope's cousin and the gazelle were on the scene.
7. "Dudette,"muttered Gary the gazelle. "You can`t fall for a pirrhana - just think about it - it will never work out." "But I love him." Ashley said passionately, "His pearly white teeth, his elegant body...he's so utterly attractive"
8. "Well then! just marry him then!" Ashley stood in silence for a few moments before relying "Well, I suppose - well. That's nice then."
9. So, withough much futher ado, the preist was summoned and the cake was iced. The wedding march began..but as Ashley walked towads "him", she realized in her heart that this was all wrong and what she really wanted was...
10. to travel the world. She left the ceremony and returned to Europe, globe trotting happily for years to come.

Are You Listening?

So today being Remembrance Day I, along with several friends, headed out to a Remembrance day service after which we discussed life as well as minor details of it. Following we meet up with 2 more students/friends which was soon followed by an afternoon and evening of shopping during which I was able to find some Albertian clothes (BC clothes do not cut it out here as it slowly starts to get colder =P) for cheap prices!

Tonight being floor meeting we did our normal traditions, announcements, socializing followed by one of the girls on the floor giving us a bit of a talk sharing a bit about her life and a bit of her conversations with God as read from her journal. Strangely, or not so strangely, a lot of what she said resonated with me. Nearing the end we were given a small project in which we were asked to grab a sheet of paper and pencils or coloured pencils and our Bibles and have our own conversation with God and write it down, or doodle/draw.

Before she was finished I had already started my conversation that went like this:
Me: God, where are you?
God: I am with you
Me: But why can't I hear you then?
God: Are you listening?
Me: I try Lord, but how do I know what is you and what is my friends, family or even me?
God: My plan is perfect, it will bring you happiness, hope and a future
This reminded me of the verse from Jeremiah 29:11 "'For I know the plans I have for you' declares the Lord 'plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future'" and then I heard the words that have been a constant reminder to me "TRUST ME" followed by "I AM who I say I AM and I will do what I say I will do."

So to whom or what have you been listening to lately? And what are they saying?

Midnight Musings

So since coming to University/College I haven't had too many early nights...most have been quite late actually but then most of them have been worth it as I make new friends and grow closer to others. I also find that late at night is the time that I end up thinking the most...or at least I think very deeply at these times. Now whether this is a good thing or not I have yet to find out but since I can still wake up in time to get ready and be on time for classes I am okay with my late night musings for now.

What has struck and stuck to me more and more lately is how complicated life actually is. As the intelligent humans that we are (or assume to be), we try to simplify everything in life. Yet there is not always a certain "Yes" or "No" to every question or situation that arises and sometimes there may be no right answer...or maybe there is no wrong answer. What do you do in that kind of situation...I wonder.

Another thing that often pops into my mind these late nights is how little I know. Yes I am a teenager, a young adult who is admitting that I don't know everything (drat). and no matter how much I study, how long I attend school, there will always be something I do not know. For example I have done at least 12, yes at LEAST 12 years, of bible studies both with my family and on my own yet even after these many years it astounds me how little I actually know about the Bible...how can you fit so much knowledge into one little (depending on the size of your Bible that is) book? Will I ever be able to understand everything? Most likely not...but is it even possible? I wonder.....

So what do you think about late at night?

Bubbles

One of the small things that makes me ridiculously happy are bubbles. I just love to blow bubbles....even as acollege kid (and I'm not afraid to admit it!). And when you think about it bubbles are a lot like the good parts of life, they are fun to make and even fun to admire for a little while as they float lazily in the air. But eventually they drift away in the breeze or pop, on their own or because of some other object. Like bubbles there are events in our lives that are fun to experience but eventually all things, good or bad, come to an end but we always have the memories of theses times to look back on if we choose too. For me, the purpose of this blog will to share, and help me self to remember, the good times and maybe the occasional bad times (I have bad times like every other person but they won't be the focus of this blog) in my life and how I'm feeling or what I'm thinking about. I hope that this blog will be interesting and that I'll remember to write in it on a steady basis and that you find some pleasure in it!
So have you blown any bubbles lately?
